Tehran Marks Mourning Month of Safar

Tehran Municipality’s Beautification Organization has set up special cultural and artistic programs to mark the mourning month of Safar.

Muharram and Safar are important periods of mourning in Shia Islam.

Shia Muslims around the globe hold special mourning ceremonies during the last ten days of the month of Safar.  Arbaeen, which marks the 40th day since the martyrdom anniversary of Shia 3rd Imam, Imam Hossein and his 72 companions, Martyrdom of Shia 2nd Imam, Imam Hassan, Pass Away of Great Prophet of Islam Mohammad (P.B.U.H.) and martyrdom of Imam Reza, 8th Imam of Shias, all fall on the last 10 days of the mourning month of Safar.

Tehran Beautification Organization has launched special cultural programs across the Iranian capital to mark the occasions.

Black banners have been installed on streets and public places in Tehran.

TBO has carried out some 44,000 square meters of cultural propagation on 30 bridges, 20 billboards, and 120 portable banners in urban spaces across the Iranian capital.
